In a number of ways, construction differs significantly from other branches of the national economy. This industry is characterized by a diverse structure of contractor construction organizations and enterprises, a high level of their specialization and cooperation. It is one of the most highly monopolized industries in the structure of the national economy of Ukraine. According to the volume of production and the number of employees, the construction industry occupies almost a tenth of the economy of Ukraine. In economically developed countries, in recent years, there has been a tendency to reduce construction activity. This is explained by the fact that the housing market turned out to be saturated, new construction is increasingly being replaced by reconstruction and technical re-equipment of existing enterprises.

Ленина, станции метрополитенов, Олимпийский комплекс и высотные сооружения Москвы, многочисленные общественные, административные здания Ленинграда, Киева, Тбилиси, Баку, Еревана и других городов нашей страны можно отнести к выдающихся архитектурных произведений.

The construction industry ensures the construction of the most productive and non-productive objects of the national economy. The importance of the construction industry as a branch of the national economy is manifested through the purpose of its production. With its products, this industry creates, improves and develops basic funds for all branches of material production, ensures the social and economic conditions of life of the population. With the help of construction, problems of great social importance are solved, which consist in the convergence of living conditions in urban and rural areas, in reducing the difference between physical and mental work, in strengthening the state's defense capabilities, etc.
